Update of Breed Standard

Following consultation with the officers and committee of the Swedish Vallhund Society. Change to Swedish Vallhund Breed Standard. This will come into effect from tomorrow, 1st November 2025.

The breed standard will now state the following regarding colour:

"All shades of grey and red with darker or black guard hairs. Lighter coat colour desirable on muzzle, throat, belly, buttocks, legs, feet and hocks. White markings permissible on chest, fore and hind legs, never to exceed one third of the total colour. White also permissible as a narrow blaze, neck spot or slight necklace.
Any other colour or combination of colours unacceptable."

Previously the breed standard stated the following regarding colour:

"Steel grey, greyish brown, greyish yellow, reddish yellow, reddish brown with darker guard hairs on back , neck, and sides of body. Lighter hair same shade of colour as mentioned above is desirable on muzzle, throat, chest, belly, buttocks, feet and hocks. Instead of these lighter shades, white markings are acceptable, but never in excess of one-third of total colour.

Any colour other than the above, including white and blue or any non-standard colour, is highly undesirable."
